This book was such a joy to read. I love Sleepy Hallow and adding the magic aspect to it, was such a fun twist to it. Not to mention I was highly amused as I was reading this, I heard a podcast mention the Sluagh around the same time I read it in the book. But the characters were great. I love Katrina, I related so much to her. She is super sweet and not being used to love and affection. Man, the moment she would keep saying sorry, I felt that. Since my husband would always tell me to stop saying sorry. Katrina's character growth with the help of Alexander, it was adorable. The twist and turns added to the story and once I finished this book, I was like oh no. I was so lost in it, I didn't realize it was over. I did appreciate the book having a section about different triggers that happen in the chapters.
I really enjoyed this book!
It was a little slow in the beginning for me, but it did get better!
It was so empowering to see Katrina go from this sad and lonely little girl to this confident woman full of power!
Alexander was a total cinnamon roll/golden retriever man who is head over heels for Katrina!
The ending was jaw-dropping, and I LOVED IT! She saved her man and got her happy ending!
Overall, it was a good retelling, and I really enjoyed reading it!
I only wish there was more than just kissing, but we can't have it all!
✨️I was graciously sent an ARC ebook for my honest review! ✨️

Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed this. My heart goes out to poor Katrina and though it took her a little while to really find herself, she got there (with a little help from my new favorite cinnamon roll, Alexander) and it was fun to be alongside her for the journey. Some elements got a little repetitive, but not too much that kept me from liking the book or the characters, because you can see why Katrina initially struggles the way she does so you do wind up rooting for her.
It's a great low-stakes, low-spice, cozy Sleepy Hollow reimagining with all the spooky season vibes (with a HEA) that you might want for Halloween time.

Take a trip back to Sleepy Hollow in this reimagined retelling perfect for spooky season. Katrina has never quite fit in and has always felt like the bane of her parents’ existence, particularly her mother. They are important members of the town’s Council and every year they sacrifice a townsperson to the Dullahan in exchange for protection of the city. This year Katrina is the sacrifice. She soon learns it’s not all as it seems and darker forces are at play, including a meeting with Death herself. This story weaves a tale of a woman discovering who she is and owning her power. She will not back down when it comes to saving those she cares about. I love a strong female character who searches for her own truth. This was an enjoyable read and a great retelling of a classic tale.
Beautiful retailing of sleepy hollow, you will fall in love with Katrina and Alexander !
The main character was confused- as in it seemed like the story was confused as to what personality it wanted her to have. Therefore I am confused too :/
The main romance seemed rushed and a little superficial? Man said some unforgivable things and that was kinda just glossed over? Huh?? Hard to root for him after that, also boooo to Katrina for forgiving him so easily. Not very character developed of her, which I guess is one of the main issues with this book- confused character development.
Lukewarm feelings about this book overall :(

Hollowed is a Sleepy Hollow retelling featuring the headless horseman known as the Dullahan and our FMC Katrina. Katrina is selected as the chosen sacrifice or Rognaithe for the year but finds out there are secrets to be uncovered in Sleepy Hollow. I truly enjoyed seeing Katrina’s character development over the course of the story. She is a character who does not quit no matter what hardships she has faced in her life. I loved how Jessica includes anxiety, disability and mental health rep into the story. Overall this story was easy to follow and had great pacing. I truly enjoyed this story and loved Jessica’s reimagining of Sleepy Hollow.
