Warning: this review is full of spoilers. Read at your own risk.

5 wonderful, over-the-moon stars. But are we even surprised?

Let me start by saying that before reading this I hated Nesta. I couldn’t stand her and her bitchy attitude and if I saw her on the street I would’ve probably spat in her face. I just couldn’t understand how she could be such a conceited bitch to everyone around her without a thought. Without thinking everyone’s fighting their own battles. And I honestly couldn’t understand (still can’t) how people liked her and empathized with her. But maybe after this book I understand a little more her struggles and maybe, just maybe, I like her now... just enough not to want to throttle her at least. As always, Sarah J. Mass only writes masterpieces. And with that, beautiful redemption arcs such as this one.

“She had been born wrong. Had been born with claws and fangs and had never been able to keep from using them, never been able to quell the part of her that roared at betrayal, that could hate and love more violently than anyone ever understood.”

Nesta’s change was something to admire in this book. As I have explained, I never liked her, to say the least. She always seemed like such a bitch to me. Saying such nasty things and never giving a second thought about other people’s feelings. But here, we see her grow. She reminded me a little bit of Feyre in [b:A Court of Mist and Fury|17927395|A Court of Mist and Fury (A Court of Thorns and Roses, #2)|Sarah J. Maas|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1546406996l/17927395._SY75_.jpg|25126749], with her being so broken and so angry at the world. And like Feyre, she needed grow and evolve, she needed to work on herself. This was beautifully written. We got to see Nesta at her worst and then we got to see her fight with tooth and nail to get herself out of that state. We got to see her acknowledge her past, feel it and then walk past it. Not letting it crumble her, not letting it consume her.

“...What you feel, this guilt and pain and self-loathing—you will get through it. But only if you are willing to fight. Only if you are willing to face it, and embrace it, and walk through it, to emerge on the other side of it. And maybe you will still feel that tinge of pain, but there is another side. A better side.”

Although Nesta did remind me of Feyre and her journey, Cassian’s and Nesta’s relationship was nothing like Rhys’ and Feyre’s. It’s nice to see an author give different characters different stories and their own journey. I’m pleased to say I liked this very much. Sarah j. Mass did not disappoint. But honestly, does she ever? It was refreshing to see how their mating bond clicked into place. How they very much liked each other, fucked each other’s brains out and still, because Nesta wasn’t ready, they couldn’t truly be together.

“From the moment I met you, I wanted you more than reason. From the moment I saw you in my house, you were all I could think about. And it terrified me. No one had ever held such power over me. And I am still terrified that if I let myself have you … it will be taken away. Someone will take it away, and if you’re dead …”

“The world fractured, re-formed, and fractured again.”

“Watching Nesta climax had been as close to a religious experience as Cassian had ever had.”

That said, I was never crazy about Cassian in previous books. But seeing how patient and understanding he was, how he knew she wasn’t ready and was content accepting whatever she was willing to give him, made me love him. Give him a little piece of my heart. What a damn good genuine person he is. A true gentlemen.

“I have no regrets in my life, but this. That we did not have time. That I did not have time with you, Nesta. I will find you again in the next world—the next life. And we will have that time. I promise.”

This wouldn’t be [b:A Court of Thorns and Roses|16096824|A Court of Thorns and Roses (A Court of Thorns and Roses, #1)|Sarah J. Maas|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1546406962l/16096824._SY75_.jpg|21905102] book without me talking about how much I love Rhysand and Feyre. I didn’t realize how much I missed them until Rhys called Feyre darling. I miss this pair so much. They are truly the definition of a match made in heaven. I would’ve wanted to be inside their heads a little bit. To see their thoughts and know what they’re feeling but, in the end, this book was not about them.

I loved Emerie, Gwyn and Nessa’s relationship in this book. A true sisterhood. These three girls went against all odds and came out on top. Showing men women can do everything they do, only better. This is one of the many reasons I absolutely adore SJM. Women sticking together is something I always look forward to in her books. I hope we see more of their friendship and allegiance in books to come.

“She would not be mastered by anything again. She was the master of herself.”

I know people are mad because this book had no big war or big fights but I actually liked that. Big wars make me a mess and they usually take up a big part of a book. I think the story ran smoothly and it was highly entertaining even though it didn’t revolve around a big war. But we all know it’s coming, something big is coming and maybe we’ll see it in the the next book.

Thank god this book was not left with any plot holes. No cliffhangers. Everything I need answered between this two characters was given to me, and then some. Although, I have some questions about my baby Azriel and now I want his book more than ever. Who is his love interest? Before I thought Elain, although I think she’s not good enough for him. At some point, I though Emerie for sure, but now I think it will be really interesting to see Gwyn with him. I really really want that. And what about Eris? I, like Cassian, think he’s not rotten to the core and I want to know what the fuck actually happened with him and Mor. And what about Tamlin? Will he ever grow a fucking pair and stop sulking? Meet his mate? I need answers. I need answers [a:Sarah J. Maas|3433047|Sarah J. Maas|https://images.gr-assets.com/authors/1582137198p2/3433047.jpg].

What I want to say with this is that I need more. I need the next book right now. Right now. This is best series ever created and no one can change my mind. If you live under a rock and haven’t gotten around to reading these books, that are a gift from the universe, this is your sign to get to it. You can thank me later.

My reviews for the previous books in the series:

A Court of Thorns and Roses
A Court of Mist and Fury
A Court of Wings and Ruin
A Court of Frost and Starlight

Update:

So people have been freaking out about the tittle but honestly I like it. This will not be a Feyre and Rhysand story so something must change. Good for SJM for changing the title sequence she had going on with the previous books.

Now about the cover? THAT I don’t love. I’m not gonna freak out until I’m sure this is the final cover. And I don’t think it is. I mean, c’mon, seriously? I’m 80% sure they’ll change it once we’re close to the publication date... bummer it has been moved to February, but oh well.

Update:

THERE’S A TITLE! JANUARY CANNOT COME SOON ENOUGH.

The sneak peek!!! I just hope that Nesta and Cassian can finally have their story. I have high expectations for this one. And with that sneak peek... I know SJM won’t disappoint.

But please, PLEASE publish that book already. I literally can’t wait. Pretty please? ANSWER MY DREAM SJM!

To the stars listening? That is my dream.
