Just like ACOMAF I LOVED this book. I love Nesta so much.

This may have been my favorite book in the series. The external conflicts of this book from the queen, Kochei, or any one else take a step back. Instead, the main conflict is internal, it’s Nesta versus herself and her thoughts.

We enter the book with Nesta as a hard-to-like character that appears to care more for herself than others, and Sarah J Mass takes this and develops her through training both physically and mentally. By the end of the book, she becomes almost unrecognizable in both fronts. She can fight for herself and she has learned not only to stop pushing people away, but to love herself and the people around her.

I think it’s a great depiction of mental health and what it takes for someone to confront the demons they are battling with; a timeless message for any and everyone.

Thank you to the author for the many scenes of affirmation: We are seen, we are enough, we are worthy, we are not alone, we are stronger together
Wow! So much character growth! 600+ pages are all worth it because between that and the plot, the story needs that room to grow. Bravo to the author and editor and team for not creating filler. Every paragraph was of importance. Well…
Some paragraphs obviously more for entertainment but we know that spice only has its kick because of the story surrounding it.
Predictions: What will happen next for Azriel? It seems like two females are tied to him in ways he won’t address.
End: Without most of the &&& &@@ can N still use the things…? that’s all I’ll say to avoid spoilers.
I’m intrigued to see what happens with N and with 🌍🌳🪨 (my code to avoid spoilers)
I loved the additional glimpses of singing and music and dancing and friendship 🧶🪡🧵.

Ich dachte am Anfang, dass ich das Buch nicht mögen würde, da es aus Nestas POV geschrieben wurde. Nesta ist für mich in den ersten 3 Büchern nah an Dolores Umbridge dran, und oft habe ich diese kalte Wut gespürt, die in Nesta brennt, wenn sie wieder unnötig gemein zu ihrer Unwelt war. Oft habe ich sogar laut (!) in ihre Richtung geflucht; voller Unverständnis die Nase gerümpft… und trotzdem hing ich an diesem Buch, genau wie an den ersten. Je mehr ich darüber nachdenke, desto mehr begreife ich die Komplexität ihres Charakters und bin beeindruckt wie es SJM geschafft hat, am Ende ganz andere Gefühle in mir auszulösen, als am Anfang des Buchs.

In einer anderen Rezension habe ich gelesen, dass es nicht das Buch ist, was die Fans sich gewünscht haben, sondern das was sie gebraucht haben. Und besser hätte ich es nicht ausdrücken können. Ich habe noch nie ein Buch aus Sicht einer Antagonistin (ja, das ist sie für mich) gelesen, was mich am Ende so tief berührt hat.

Ich habe ein Stern abgezogen, da ich gerne noch mehr von den anderen Charakteren gelesen hätte. Das hatte sich in den anderen Büchern „runder“ angefühlt. I mean… warum war Mor die ganze Zeit unterwegs?! Hatte da auf einen Twist gehofft, es hat sich am Ende aber eher so angefühlt, als sein nicht die Energie/Zeit für ihren Charakter dagewesen. Schade! Und auch Azriel und Lucien kamen mir zu kurz.
Ich bin sehr sehr gespannt auf das nächste Buch. Ich hoffe es hat über 1000 Seiten.
