I’m happy for Nesta but I still think the Shakespearean tragedy would have been an elite storyline.
Maas’s books always seem to have a pristine ending, with everybody ending up happily ever after. I think the stakes are raised when you don’t know if everyone is going to make it out. In ACOWAF I knew from the moment Rhys “died” that he didn’t. And the same thing for Cass. I’m not saying let’s do “Game of Thrones” when everyone dies because the author thinks it’s funny to kill off characters. But when everything is packaged so nicely, the suspense is not longer there.
This book was too long and too smutty ( I could handle it at first but for the love of the Mother…will you get up from under the kitchen table Nesta?!). The last 100 pages were great. I wish we would have gotten to spend more time in that action instead of the repetitiveness of the first 650 pages (how many steps will Nesta go down today? Let me guess…not all of them)
I loved the themes of friendship, healing, and forgiveness. I also loved to see the perspective of someone from the outside looking into the Inner Circle, where our protagonists are not always that shiny and lovable. This book actually made me cry the most out of all of them. Which is interesting because I really found Nesta annoying af through out most of it and yet I was able to relate to her in a lot of ways. There’s probably a connection there.
Long live Nesta and literally every primary character because clearly no matter what happens there will be a loop hole that saves the day.

I love Nesta but she needs therapy.
I’m mad at everyone for being so mean to Nessa when she clearly just needs help. Rhysand is annoying in this book. But a great lesson for all the girls: don’t get preggo. It’s no fun.
The smut in this book is something else okay. Nothing is left unsaid and it is GRAPHIC. But I kinda love it. And why is no one talking about the threeway fantasy??!! Holy shit.
Overall this is of course a terrible book of low academic standards but I loved every page. It had me kicking my feet in bed and had me daydreaming when I was waiting until it was time to read again.

This was a great installment in the series! I didn’t mind the switch from first to third person since I had taken a break from the series after a court of frost and starlight for about half a year. I didn’t have the first person view in mind going into this book since I had also been told it switches so I was prepared. I really enjoyed the character development throughout this book with Nesta and seeing her make friends and start to get through her trauma. I felt that Rhysand annoyed me a bit in this book with his clear hatred towards Nesta throughout the book until the end of it. I’m glad that she was able to find her happy ending!
