If I were you, I would skip this one.  Alot of lead up for nothing.  The female character was a bit boring and naive.

Well that was, something. I wasn’t expecting that first chapter, or a very detailed rape scene. Thankfully, I’m not triggered by it & go into books fully blind. Definitely check the TW for this book before starting. The ending did feel a little abrupt. I liked it enough to keep reading, but overall I didn’t love it.

I have mixed feelings about this book. I liked it, but didn’t love it. I feel like it’s a long, foundational intro to the rest of the story (much like Assassin’s Blade). I’m interested to see where book 2 leads.
