I really enjoyed reading this and I thought the plot was pretty well thought out. Most of my reasons for not liking the book are more to do with the world building than anything, which I thought was very subpar. There wasn’t anything new in this book, like no elements that made it stand out as a fantasy novel. But, the plot made up for that in its own way and it kept me invested. Would definitely recommend for anyone who is new to fantasy or looking to get into the genre.
It wasn't actually that bad, more boring than anything else. I've read the story a million times before and there were a few things that just didn't bode well. I do think some elements were borrowed from the hunger games, I was reminded of that book, maybe a bit too much? The character arcs were messy but I do not see the betrayal coming, I didn't expect it, but maybe because it wasn't obvious?
I don't see why it has so much hate, it wasn't bad. Just nothing special. For example how do the silvers get their powers exactly? I don't think that's explained very well. This was just a pretty meh book.

This reads like what you might get if you blended together all the most popular YA fantasy novels of the last 20 years, sifted out all the interesting worldbuilding, characterization, plot twists and prose and just kept the blandest, most generic, least creative elements of each. Feisty NLOG underprivileged teen protagonist gets vaulted into the world of the privileged, discovers that she actually has super special, unique powers and gets a hot prince falling in love with her. I'm a sucker for these plots when the author can provide an interesting spin and a compelling narrative voice, but this one brings absolutely nothing new to the table and is just a more boring, poorly-executed version of what has already been done.
Me encantó la verdad, iba sin muchas expectativas porque es un libro que ya tiene sus años y no siento que a día de hoy se siga hablando de él, aunque sí se hable de otros de la misma época.

Quizás considero un poco exagerado que se piense que Cal daría todo por nuestra protagonista o que realmente siente un amor intenso cuando realmente en el libro hablan pocas veces y solo se dan un besito. Entiendo que una sociedad así estricta es lo que hay, pero igual no suena muy creíbleNo puedo esperar a empezar el segundo!

Por dónde empezar. Entre autora y traductor han conseguido que este libro parezca peor de lo que es (y ya de por sí es malo). Aparte de que la historia la hemos visto mil veces, y parece un mash-up de La Trilogía Grisha/La Selección/la serie de TV de Heroes/X-Men y un largo etc. donde no aporta absolutamente nada nuevo, ni una pizca de originalidad. Nada está justificado, las razones de los personajes para hacer las cosas van y vienen sin ningún tipo de motivo aparente, no hay ni un solo personaje que llame la atención, ni de los buenos ni de los manos, trata de hacerte tragar unos supuestos plot-twists que no lo son, porque un buen plot-twist te lo tienes que trabajar durante toda la trama y no sacártelo de la manga en el último momento. El "aprieta la quijada" cada dos páginas casi me vuelve majara y me daban ganas de empezar a quemar hojas, esa gilipollez de "él te elegirá a ti, porque te quiere, por encima de todo eso por lo que ha luchado toda su vida, y hacia lo que siente la mayor de las responsabilidades", y ya no digamos los vídeos que ponen en el Cuenco de los Huesos de todo lo "ilegal" que ha hecho la muchacha cuando supuestamente ella, que es capaz de sentir las cámaras y apagarlas, esas precisamente no las notas explicadmedóndeestálalógicaeneso. Ugh.

I really wanted to give this book a four but the plot twist was so annoyingly predictable that it bothered me to the point I had to rate it lower

3.75-4: I really enjoyed this and it was really funny to see how badly Lauren Robert's plagiarized this book lol. That was crazy though, damn. I wish I could've seen more Cal and Mare together because for me at least it wasn't super believable that he cared about her because they interacted alone maybe twice. Idk it just didn't give me like oh he loves her, more like he has an unrequited crush.
