I frequently found the writing style -- "staccato" comes to mind -- jarring and disjointed, but I think the questions Marçal explores are more important than any others we could ask ourselves as a society, especially now.

Wow, everyone should read this! It would make the world a better place, not only for a lot of women.

An important topic but the book structure just jumped around too much. And the sentence structure wasn’t for me, too many short sentences so it just felt a bit in-genuine. An important perspective but more could have been done with the book - a call to action or a manifesto for change would have given some more direction.

Have a look at Anna's review; she captures precisely how I felt about this book: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/1700216121?book_show_action=true&from_review_page=1

Essentially a book-sized argument against “Freakonomics” and I’m not mad

I enjoyed this book because it raises some interesting topics surrounding women and economic theory. Its really easy to read, and would be accessible to all. She raises interesting points about how "homoeconomicus" hardly resembles the way humans interact in daily life, and in blatantly ignores unpaid work, primarily conducted by women.
However, this book leaves a lot to be desired with offering solutions. It's all well and good informing about the ignorance of economics, but ignorance will remain unless we can offer valuable solutions to reforming economic theory and methods of measuring GDP.
