As a gimmicky successor to Lone Wolf & Cub it didn't do it for me, it jettisons the quiet grace and dramatic intensity of the original (IS THE BABY GOING TO BE OK????). But this book won me over on its own merits eventually- the apocalyptic world building is killer and I love that in each section you learn more and more about the androids and it keeps getting more and more chilling and creepy.
