Enjoyed this re-imagining of well known faerie tales, with a particular focus on the villains and providing back story. Some of the stories were just okay, but the story behind the witch in Hansel and Gretel, the wizard's apprentice and the twist on Blue Beard were probably my favorites.

As I read this I knew exactly which student to give it to. She read it in one night.

One story that completely stood out to me was “A Delicate Architecture” It’s very creative and mind-blowing

Kinda uneven so a little disappointing...favorite stories: "wizard's apprentice" by Delia Sherman, "Up the Down Beanstalk: A wife remembers" by Peter S. Beagle, "'skin" by Michael Cadnum...the absolute standout and gem of this anthology: "A Delicate Architecture" by Catherynne M. Valente which tells the heartbreaking backstory of the witch from Hansel and Gretel...I really almost cried...that story alone bumped this rating from 2 stars to 3 stars.

This was a compilation of short stories all told from the villians point of view in fairy tales. I was bored by some of the stories and slightly intrigued by others. Nothing really stuck out as amazing. It was a bit of a disappointment.

A 3 star book with one outstanding 5 star story. A Delicate Architecture by Catherynne M. Valente made it all worth while.

3.5 more likely but still quite enjoyable!
I loved some of the stories others were just not my cup of tea.
Overall this is an atmospheric book with an interesting idea of how the well known fairytale would look like if told from the "villain's" point of view.
