Wow. What an amazing story.
I finished this in two days, kept being dragged back in every time something new was discovered. Very well told, felt like I was reading a psychological thriller at times and had to remind myself this is real!
It was a shame that I was so frustrated by the sidelining of his wife and child throughout and the authors lack of empathy for anyone else involved made it difficult for me to warm to him. I can appreciate that it must be a very difficult situation but I felt at times he just trampled on other people’s feelings to get what he wanted.
Otherwise a good read if you like a life story.

Just finished! Outstanding. Thanks to Allison Ramsey Demski for suggesting. Congratulations Allison on the wonderful work you, Crista, CeCe & others did to solve this case. My head is still swimming with all the twists, turns, disappointments and triumphs Paul Joseph Fronczak faced on this journey. As a family history buff, it was interesting to see the use of DNA and other genealogy tools used during the course of the book. If you are into true crime, family history and forensic research this is a must read!
The beginning of this memoir started with a lot of momentum but really lost me in the twists and turns of the genealogy search and the nonstop fretting about being a bad husband and father.
This was such a compelling story -- I'd start it when I got into bed and at 2 AM I'd have to force myself to stop or else I'd read it all night. This is just such a heartbreaking combination of mysteries -- the kidnapping of the original Paul Fronczak, the mystery of what, exactly, happened to the current Paul Fronczak as a two year old, and what happened to his sibling. We don't get all the answers, as this is a memoir and the author doesn't have all the answers yet. This is such a complicated read about identity, family and adoption issues, as well as a page-turning narrative about the author's journey.
A reeeeally interesting story! There hit a point where there was a big focus on genealogy which got kinda boring, but the story unraveling was very entertaining. I wish it had ended in a more intriguing way, but you get what you get when it’s a true story!
