This book blew past my expectations. I haven't read too much fantasy recently, and this book has been on my shelf for about a year. I was not expecting to be so sucked in by the characters. I would die for Alistair Lowe. This book was tragic, magical, and a fun read. I can not wait to get the second book, especially after the ending of this one.

Skimmed to reach the end. Boring, confusing, badly paced, and I don’t understand why it exists. It’s a passion project between friends, says the acknowledgement. Maybe leave it there instead of publishing it. It’s disjointed, dull, and not a single character is interesting beyond a single element that attempts to make them stand out. Skimmed the last half, shouldn’t have bothered with even that. Pointless.
