I hated the writing at the beginning, I won’t lie. But I slowly found myself wanting to learn more. This was a nice and easy thriller, a perfect palette cleanser, though a bit lackluster

I enjoyed it! Read it in one sitting.

Although I do agree with one of the other reviews here that it was a lot with the multiple jumping timelines, like past to present to even further past to even further present.

I liked this I think more than her other book then she was gone

This was the second novel by Lisa Jewell I picked up, after "Watching You" (which I liked better).

I definitely enjoyed this story but as other readers have mentioned, the constant back and forth between time periods can get a little confusing at times; especially in the beginning as you're still learning the characters' names.

Once I managed to get over this small burden, I found the storyline to be quite diverse as it explored many different aspects of the same event through a cast of characters experiencing it in different times in parallel.

However, I was expecting more twists and turns along the way (I don't think I gasped even once throughout).

This book really picks up in the last half, which is a good thing because the mystery unravels so slowly. And yet it was so, so satisfying once it did unravel. Sophie was a fantastic audience surrogate, and the couple well-placed twists were icing on the cake. The decision to split the narrative by time and perspective was at times difficult to follow, but in the end Jewell really pulled it off. Excited to read more by this author!

One of her best books to date, a truly gripping thriller, that had me on the edge of my seat wanting more. Was slightly predictable in places but personally it worked.
