It’s definitely a sign that you’re going to have a bad day when you wake up dead. One would think that Kai, the protagonist of Martha Wells’s electrifying novel Witch King, would be used to it. This isn’t the first time he’s woken up dead. He is a demon, after all. But waking up dead this time portends a lot more than just a bad day. It might mean the end of everything Kai, his friends, and his allies have worked for...

This is a good book; I didn't love it. It's a cool world, I like that Wells doesn't hold your hand through all the world-building, the concept and overall plot is entertaining, and I enjoyed the narrative structure. I also didn't care. It's not even that the characters are unlikeable, I just felt indifferent about them. So, again, good book; I didn't love it.

I'm so devastated that I did not love this book. I absolutely ADORE the murder bot series! I was hoping this would be just as devour-able. Unfortunately, I just couldn't get into the story, I felt confused through a lot of the book, and, ultimately, just didn't care about the characters enough to care about the journey they were on.
