**SPOILERS**

Did I figure out almost everything before it was revealed?
Yes
Does that change how much I absolutely loved this book?
No
Of course Poppy fell in love with Hawke, shit, *I* fell in love with him. And regardless of who he really turned out to be, I wish I could read the first 3/4 of this book again for the first time. The banter, the spice, it was wonderful. Loved it. Can definitely see myself reading this again in the future.

Also, to add, the performance given on the audiobook was phenomenal. The voice changes, the way Poppy’s thoughts are narrated, the emotions, everything was great.

I enjoyed the plot but there are some non-consensual aspects of the romantic relationship that was very uncomfortable.  I like that the main character is portrayed as strong and can take care of herself but she's also not very smart and trusts very easily.

Este libro me dejó en shock. Por dios cuanta intensidad. Pasa de todo y te hace sentir de todo. No puedo esperar para leer el segundo libro y saber más sobre Poppy y Hawke.

Tier 2: Pleasure Read

Review update:
Still a great first book. I like the romance and lot and the twist is great. Consistently interesting. Spice towards the end of the book, but gets more intense in the sequels.

Still agree that the series as a whole is a bit of a disappointment. Currently on book 3 and not sure if I will finish.

Original:
This is a good book but unfortunately the rest of the series does not hold up.

Beautiful writing

This book is so well written, especially the relationships between characters. Poppy is such a strong female character, fierce and independent, yet also naive and innocent. She wants so badly to live in a world where she hasn't been allowed that it makes it easy for Hawke to come and so her things she thought she'd never had. The world and culture is fascinating, a new take on a classic vampire/werewolf tale. The need, desire, loss, and betrayel just broke my heart over and over; yet I still couldn't put the book down. I can't wait to pick up the second and third book and see how this story unfolds.
