I’m conflicted on how to comment about this book. I was shocked that the author is not indigenous but it seems as though he researched very well and talked to actual indigenous people, but I’m not exactly sure this is his story to tell. Other than that, this book is definitely very spooky. There were times where I had to take a break because I was too scared.
Some fun, creepy visuals and moments, but holy shit do not use native Americans as the wise evil spirit helpers and then scalp two of them …..
I did enjoy this book for the most part. It actually started out AMAZING! I was so scared being home alone and listening to it. But it started to meander a bit in the middle and by the end I kinda lost the tension I thought I should feel.
I will likely be checking out the sequel tho!

Take this novel at face value. Enjoy it. Don't try to find depth or meaning. Let yourself get engrossed in the story. Is it the best novel ever written? Not at all. Is it a bit redundant? Yes it is... Did I enjoy the story? Of course!

That was terrifying amazing! This book had me on the edge of my chair when listening to it, OMG. I got spooked by one of my colleagues because I was so focused that I didn’t see or hear them come over to my office. And the ending was so satisfying despite all the sadness that was endured to reach it.
I can’t wait to pick up another Felix Blackwell book!
