Yet another book to add to the "I read this exclusively because of the kink, but it turns out that I was more emotionally invested than I expected" list.

The camp aspect of this series, first off, is a solid 10/10. I feel that every BDSM book I've read in the past 15 years has been set in sex clubs or dungeons. So this was a refreshing twist I didn't see coming. Also, the sense of community in the camp had me hyped. Grace and Max = friendship goals, and every other character we bumped into along the way was a 10/10.

Anyway. Grace, our heroine, is seriously repressed. Mostly down to her delightfully kink shaming ex. She's also overwhelmed, between working and taking care of her mum, she's finally taken a break to go on "holiday" ie to the kink camp. She gets the opportunity to fulfil a fantasy, anonymously.

Liev, our hero, is an understandably grumpy tortured widower who has a once a year anonymous one-off scene.

The two of them had chemistry that had me resenting every moment I had to put the book down 😒 I loved watching them suss out who their mystery person was. And their interactions were 🌶🌶🌶

A fast MF kinky romance~

Grace’s bestfriend Max encourages her to take a break from her grief mother aka a vacation and potentially sign up to a sex camp.

One day, she sees a flyer that seems very appealing and so she fills it up: MALE PRIMAL HUNTER seeks Female Prey for a one- time, anonymous hunt. No faces. No names. No repeats.

Both Grace and Liev has an understanding; both in kinky sexy but also in grief/loss of a close one. They become connected and grow to care to one another.

While this book is mature, I did like when the FMC or any other woman are comfortable with their own and are down to explore their own sexual desires. Again, it may be a taboo topics in public but the way she understands herself is quite refreshing.

The thing with this book is that the grief in Liev is present 95% of the book. I wished the author also focused on the relationship growth between the leads, cuz it was lacking.

He has been struggling the loss of his wife for years and now he meets someone that matches him, he is conflicted and definitely horny.
The moment both Grace and Liev meets, it was like to opposite magnets attracting instantly. The similar urges comes without thoughts and the same with their kinks are very respected and reciprocated.

I was also questioning whether it was a shifter romance with the bite marking and the mine mine mine… and the “this being inside of me is possessive of her” thing…

I wished that we get to see more of them after Liev ‘accepts’ his feelings for Grace: This woman feels like mine.

Kinks: chase(predator/pray); mask play; dom/sub

"It's gonna hurt. I'm gonna hurt you."

"I might hurt you back," I taunt and he laughs.

I kept seeing things about this book on Twitter right before it was published. I thought I’d wait; I have plenty of other books to read. I don’t really remember what pushed me over the edge (oh! the peer pressure!!!!) and had me clicking on the buy button the same day it was released. Then ignoring my very long TBR and reading it the next day. But I did and I’m not sorry.

This story is so shame-free. It tells the reader that their kink may not be up everyone’s alley, but that’s okay. Grace often finds herself starting to feel uncomfortable with her surroundings, an actual adult summer camp that caters to those wanting to feel free to express and explore their kinks, but will always quickly rein herself in and remember that nobody there is judging her or her tastes. Grace is a great stand-in for the reader while the reader explores this different world. Her best friend Max is the only one, until now, that knew Grace has a kinky side and she has long been encouraging her to safely explore that. Though Grace doesn’t understand Max’s kinks, she admires the way she owns who she is and what she wants and needs sexually. The women share an openness and understanding that finally got Grace to step out of her comfort zone and go to camp with Max.

Please do yourself a favor and really read the blurb of this book and even the author’s note at the front of the book before diving in. It’s not a story everyone can handle, and that’s okay. For me, I found it insanely sexy as well as emotional. There is a definite fated mates element to Grace and Liev and I couldn’t get enough of his grunts and alpha-ness. Things I don’t usually find sexy were somehow beyond hot to me in this story. The author did a beautiful job, not only with the sex scenes but with everything in between. The “real” lives of Grace and Liev are not given in detail, but you understand everything you need to know. She gives you what you need for your mind to fill in the blanks as you read. Therefore, the story never gets bogged down but I came away feeling I knew these characters quite well.

I loved meeting Liev, the owner, and his close friends. Lamé is a joy and I cannot wait to hear their story someday. There is an excerpt of the next story in the series included in my copy of this book and I’m anxious for more.
