This is barely a flat three. Noah is kind of a wanker throughout, the resolutions are lackluster at best, and also it’s not the worst QYA that i’ve read. YMMV

3.5 rounded up.

A fun, heartfelt coming of age queer YA romance between a reluctant theatre actor and the online gaming friend he falls for IRL without the other realizing their double connection. Perfect for fans of Becky Albertelli and Timothy Janovski, this was full of all the ups and downs of first love, the anxieties of self-love, the realities of becoming physical for the first time with a new partner plus a healthy dose of miscommunication. I enjoyed the narration by Matthew Backer too. Much thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for an early audio copy in exchange for my honest review.

Super cute! I also loved the way it ended, and the fun inversions of tropes throughout (you may have seen the “only one bed” trope, now prepare for “accidentally two beds”).

Really good but a little unsatisfying at the end tbh

This was a cute read. The whole time I wanted to sit Noah down and explain what terrible choices he was making. But who didn’t make bad decisions at 17?

An adorable young MM gaymer romance set in regional Australia about online crushes and catfishing, teen angst and amateur theatre.

O H… M A I… G A W D!

New favourite book alert! Tobias just gets it, he knows how to wriiiiiite and write he did.

I am now in love with Noah and Eli. This showmance took us on a roller coaster of emotions (yes I cried shush). There’s a number of things happening in Noah’s life all of which were important to the story and I just wanted to know what was going on.

I had an inkling the whole way through about one of them!!

If you’re looking for a cute as heck read that will occupy your thoughts whenever you’re away from the book, this is it!

Congrats Tobias!!
Thank you penguin for the copy of the book.

You know you're old when you relate more to the parent than the teenage protagonist. But cute. And uncomfortable.
