I enjoy Bukowski not because he’s a super cool dude and inspiring human being, but because he was a piece of shit who appreciated the Sidneyan concept of MIMESIS. Or is that a Greek concept.

Bukowski really is shit. This had maybe two or three decent poems, and that's if we're being nice

interesting/
i like how most of the poems are like really short stories, it's easy to imagine what they describe and it creates a powerful image in my head/
nothing i've read before/
maybe too realistic for me though/
all the poems looked alike even if they were different and i liked that - it shows that they are from the same book, it's like they have the same fragrance/
can't wait to read more of Bukowski's/
i have some fav phrases and poems/
i'm going to make a list of them

I really don't care for poetry very much, but this book really shows off Bukowski on a level that more people could tolerate. If all you have heard about is how vulgar Bukowski is try this book and will change your mind.

Hardest 230 pages of reading of my life, mostly because i have a pretty low threshold for listening to Bukowski whine about being ugly and old and drunk and broke and how no girls want him anymore and his balls itch and he's horny etc etc. There were a few gems in here and i can see his skill at certain points but i just really do not care enough abt his little pity party to read this many poems describing his shitty life.

.
