third time reading this and I finally agree Alex sucks in this book, his singing is cringy, and the dialouge is horrendous at times

Honestly… I expected a lot more of this. I felt like there wasn’t much that Ava and Alex did together? They didn’t have many moments where we could get to know them and their dynamic apart from the spicy scenes. I listened to it instead of reading, maybe that made me more distant idk. Also there were a lot of moments where I just cringed, sometimes Alex was just too much, too possessive for my liking so I couldn’t really get attached to his character. The whole thing with their family came out of nowhere for me, I didn’t really like that whole story. I would have liked to see more of Ava and Alex instead.

It was cutesy! I like the ‘soft’ dark romance aspect lol.

DID NOT FINISH: 5%

I didn’t like the characters

The only reason why I read and FINISHED this book is because it’s been on my physical tbr for 4 years.

(Is it too early to crown the worst book of 2025? )
Twisted Love is a brother's best friend/CEO romance novel that unfortunately falls short of expectations, primarily due to its problematic portrayal of the male protagonist and the unrealistic nature of the plot.
Alex, the MMC, exhibits a concerning pattern of controlling and possessive behavior that crosses numerous boundaries. His actions, such as excessive jealousy and attempts to isolate Ava from her friends and colleagues, raise serious red flags regarding his character - besides the FMC and her brother, he behaves despicably with everyone who he comes into contact with. Despite these warning signs, Ava's character is ridiculously passive, readily accepting his controlling behavior, and is the cliched happy go lucky heroine with zero depth of character.
The plot seems to be mostly missing from this book and where it exists, it is riddled with implausibilities, particularly regarding Alex's exaggerated level of influence and control over various industries.
While the writing itself is competent, the poor character development and overusage of cliched romantic tropes creates a ridiculous story which lacks emotional depth.
If you would like to understand what constitutes a toxic relationship and what traits should be avoided in a man, then this book provides the perfect place to start.

i have never been more embarrassed to read a book when the cover looks like this i swear this isn’t what my book looks like

This started out pretty good, then had some WTF moments… I did the audio book, I didnt really like the male dialog spoken by the female narrator - but that seems to be a common theme for me. Not all audio books are created equal lol. It was a decent start to a series, ive heard book 2 is better so looking forward to that.
SpoilerI’d let Alex stalk me with all my favorite things… and damnnnn he fucked up Madlyn lol
