I just can't finish this one. Macon is the most boring, un-relatable character I think I have ever come across. The book is moving slower than a snail on sandpaper. I can't believe this book was actually made into a movie. Yawwwwwwn.

I want to be clear, I really liked this book. I did find it somewhat depressing and very melancholy but rightly so considering the characters. The Accidental Tourist is very well written and I was pulled into the characters' world right away. The fact that this world was often filled with anxiety and emotional awkwardness is what made it difficult to read sometimes. Highly recommend.

This is one of my top 3 favorite books, hands down.
Macon lives his life in systems. But there is no system for when your son dies and your wife leaves you. So he begins to spiral.
Not a bad story overall but there were no big reveals or any moment so of heightened emotions. I enjoyed the variety of characters very much!

So annoyed by 2 of the main characters; surprised I finished this book.
Reread--as good as I remembered. Such a charming, well-crafted, fun book. The characters are real and yet occasionally hilarious. Loved it!
