Awwwww very cute coming of age gay story !!!

4 stars I loved Ophelia sm

"Being queer is hard enough. Don't lock yourself out of all of this just because you're scared you won't fit in the keyhole, without even trying."

When Ophelia starts having feelings for a girl she begins to wonder if she’s as boy-crazy as she, and everyone else, has always thought she is.

Ophelia After All is a fast-paced read about a group of teens in the final weeks before their last high school prom. It explores different friend group dynamics and sexual identity awakenings.

I wanted to like this one more than I did but I think for me the friend group and Ophelia herself became a bit too insufferable. I felt they were quite mean to each other most of the time. Wes was the only character I consistently loved. He is a gem and deserves everything! I also tend to struggle to be around people who are “boy crazy” in real life so I think that was a deterrent for me as well. All this to say that I was certainly the problem here. I think this book will be a hit for so many readers but sadly it was just ok for me.

There were however some really good discussions around queer identities and especially comments on the ace umbrella that I really enjoyed. There were also certain aspects of the plot that were really fun.

Read if you like:
🌹Queer awakenings
🌹Friend group drama
🌹Stories centered around the final year of high school (and prom)
🌹Flowers and gardening
🌹This quote: “Hamlet would be a great lesbian.”
