Damn this girl was insufferable--perfect teenage representation. I think this author has a really cool skill in inhabiting a teenager's brain. Like her thought spirals were so reminiscent of the teen years. I think Albertalli does teenage anxiety especially well without necessarily diagnosing it as such. This was cute and more sapphic than anticipated, so that was a fun surprise. The ending was a bit abrupt and I thought there were a handful of loose ends, but I'll live.

Lots of cute gay moments (especially with Simon and Bram). Leah is really relatable, with her anxiety and her membership in many fandoms and I just love her.

Unlike Simon Vs. there is not a lot of talk of sex (no hate against Simon vs., I love both of these books).

*SPOILERS*One of the biggest problems I had was when Leah got mad at Abby for saying she was lowkey bi and I get where Leah is coming from and I can understand why she got mad at Abby. But at the same time sexuality is not black and white and Abby is still trying to figure her sexuality out and yeah, that part just bothered me.

I am the queen of reading entire books in a single day. I did it with ‘Dear Martin’, and I did it with ‘Leah on the Off Beat’, too, because I felt like it and I could.

I really didn’t like Leah in ‘Simon vs the Homo Sapiens Agenda’, so I was surprised that I liked this book as much as I did. Leah became much more likeable once I was able to get into her head, and the story was sweet and funny and inconsequential, which is what I like when I’m looking for a good YA book that I can race through in one sitting.

3.5 rounded up. I'm pleasantly surprised tbh. I was under the impression I might not like this as much as Simon's book bc I read it when I was in high school, but it still hit right

This is alot to take in. It´s totally cute too. I think I like how people's sexulity is discussed so casually here. Like it matters but not matters at all at the same time. Like your feelings are totally entitled to you and it's up to you to decide who you want.

Let me just say, I was so excited for this book after reading the first one. Oh god was I disappointed. I really liked the characters, but the writing was badly done and the story was lacking the mystery the first one had.

This little bundle of joy. Y’all, I absolutely TORE through Leah on the Offbeat, and it was a pure joy for me. I really loved being back with these characters, and Albertalli had me just smiling and cheesing throughout. There was definitely some risk here in developing and exploring established characters' budding bisexuality, but it was thoughtful and had nuance and a good amount of realistic doubt. I'd be thrilled to revisit this world again... but I hear that we may not be getting a Creekwood 3? :(

Leah on the offbeat isn't as well-written as Simon versus the homosapiens agenda. While Leah is realistically written, she isn't
as fun to read about because of how negative her worldview is. There could've been more depth to her internal conflicts as her change in the very last chapter feels unearned. It was an okay read and it was fun to revisit these characters.
