Contemporary-a-thon Book 2

I loved this book so much. It was so sweet, it broke my heart and warmed it all at the same time. This was the first I’ve read from Fredrick Backman and I will definitely be picking up more from him. I loved the grumpy old man and his need for everything to be perfect and follow the rules. I loved that even after his wife’s death, he still thought about her and what she would say to him in a specific situation. He really reminded me of my grandpa which was so precious. I definitely teared up once or twice while reading this.

Currently just absolutely sobbing
All the way through this book, knowing it had a sad ending, I couldn't tell if it was going to make me cry or not. I didn't feel incredibly connected to Ove as a character up until the last 3/4 of the book, and it hit HARD. This book is so beautifully written and there are so many lines I ended up highlighting, which I never do.

This book 100% lived up to my expectations. It was so wholesome, and it had a beautiful ending. The writing was great, the characters felt real and lovable, and I suprisingly even liked the cat (I'm a dog person). The story development, and the use of analogies was very well done. The way in which the author would use the same sentences in the beginning and ending of the chapters was really clever. Though it could also feel a little repetitive. I would give it four stars because the pacing is quite slow, but it absolutely pays off in the end.

Heartwarming, funny, thoughtful and made me cry more than once. I’m sad to have finished it

An overall sad and emotional tone but such a good read on the human connection and just life actually loved the writing so may explore other books by this author
