Easily the weakest book in the trilogy, and seeing as it's the end, that's hard to swallow.

The characters drive this series from the very beginning. I don't think anyone read these for the plot or worldbuilding, but you leave with a remarkably hazy mental image of what you just read considering the total wordcount. Even a soft magic system needs some semblance of rules and that never really appears. The ending, besides the predictable twist, appears with zero foreshadowing because we didn't know what was possible in the first place. Before then, my interest was already waning as the plot largely followed the same worn track as its predecessor.

Séverin, Laila, Enrique, Zofia, and Hypnos (poor sidelined, underutilized Hypnos) have my heart. They have since the beginning. I just wish there were a better story to support them.

Way better than book two. Severin has made mistakes & deals with devils, and now they're coming to collect. I honestly can't believe how attached I am to all six of these miscreants after all this time.
SpoilerCHOKSHI REALLY SAID, "GIVE ENRIQUE EVERYTHING HE WANTS" AND I AM LIVING FOR IT. Thank you so much for giving the trio a paired ending instead of forcing Enrique to choose!!! It means the world.
I found the conclusion to the trilogy to be way more entertaining and coherent than The Silvered Serpents. I think that most people are going to enjoy it, too.

Thank you to NetGalley for a preview copy of the audiobook in exchange for an honest review.

I am satisfied with that ending. I sobbed through most of Part VI because it reminded me of so many other endings (e.g. Clockwork Princess, Our Violent Ends) , but I liked it nevertheless. It's the kind of closure you actually need and I'm glad we got to have that. Thank you, Roshani, for this wonderful trilogy. I love everyone with all my heart, but most especially Enrique, Zofia, and Hypnos. But I would like to know if they got married xx

Nie było idealnie, ale dobrze się bawiłam. Dla Zofii i Enrique przeczytałabym tę trylogię i sto razy

3,5 stars, rounding up mostly because I just adore these characters.

I think this is the weakest book in this trilogy, and while I actually quite liked the ending, I felt like certain choices where just not very well executed (
Spoilerprime example: The relationship between Zofia, Enrique and Hypnos, which is amazing in theory but doesn't really make that much sense because it's never been properly developed in the books.).
Hypnos is still nothing more than a side character without his own proper pov chapters (no, we can't really count those like... three mini chapters he gets throughout the whole trilogy), which is just an incredibly odd choice when we're supposed to believe he's such an important part of the group.
The plot was a little been there done that, the pacing too slow, the finale surprisingly quickly over with. The sometimes confusing writing and world building that didn't bother me at all in the previous books did start to bother me in this one, especially during said grand finale.

Still, there is a lot to love here. The prose is gorgeous as usual and the characters are complex and well-written. Their development is just beautiful. I had so much fun with them and they'll definitely stay with me. The ending is bittersweet and will definitely not be for everyone, but I enjoyed most of it.

This is an amazing trilogy with a somewhat slightly weaker final book, but I still can't recommend it enough to readers who love character-driven stories.
