Malone tackles his usual - small-town Southern characters and politics - with something new: death row. Sounds like a tough mix, but Malone pulls this one off with his standard light air.

This was a random library pick, but I plan to read more by this author. The book slogged along in places, and the characters were a little hard to keep track of, but they were clever and the dialogue was witty. Great courtroom scenes near the end.

I had to give up on this book. It wasn't bad, but it just didn't hook me. Will try in another couple months.

This is such a great book. It's my favorite of the series but is also a killer stand-alone mystery. Mr. Malone is one of the South's great writers.
