3.5 stars. At times brilliant, often confusing, philosophical and a great critique on society, cut up timeline allows you to piece together a tale which is often fun. This is definitely one series that would require multiple readings to fully understand. Only one of four volumes available for free so I'll have to wait to continue story (if i decide to give it a go that is).

The central story is indulgently violent with an immature and underdeveloped "fuck the man" routine that didn't resonate with me, but the standalone stories (and wanderings into the world of Byron and Shelley) are weird and imaginative and sometimes really beautifully written and drawn. Recommended if you like bizarre, high-concept, literary comics; avoid if depictions of extreme violence are a no-go.

Complicated. This first volume isn't enough for me to judge, as it honestly feels like the pieces are still being put into place. But something tells me this one's going to be more in the telling.
I went into this after reading Morrison's Supergods, which I think is a beneficial way to approach it. Having Morrison himself unpack the Invisibles' meta-narrative in Supergods' pages makes reading the work itself that much more coherent. I recommend doing the same if possible.
Still, overall, thought provoking 90s Vertigo comics. Complex and unusual.

I'm not the target audience
At some point early on, I started pulling for the bad guys. It was mostly because the protagonist didn't build a relationship with the reader. I'm traditional that way. I'm sure it was a masterwork and very clever.
