This is an extraordinary, fascinating book.  While it is not necessarily written for the specialist, some chapters are definitely too detailed and with vocabulary beyond my understanding.
But several chapters are fascinating for the non-scientist, solitary bees are absolutely fascinating little creatures, and I would recommend this book to anyone with an interest. I read chapters 1-3, 5, 14, and skimmed a number of other chapters.
1: Introduction
2: Bee phylogeny, bee diversity, and the distinction between solitary and social bees
3: The solitary Bee Life Cycle
5: the surprising utility of males
14: threats to solitary bees and their biological conservation
