I didn't like some of the relationships between characters but I did enjoy the book!

I found the 80s / 90s pop culture references a bit distracting at times, although there's nothing intrinsically wrong with them.

A beautiful, touching YA book that tackles loads of emotive and interesting issues. It felt like a taste of home, the coverage of being a daughter of a cancer patient and the setting in the late nineties. I loved the flipping between the grandmother’s diary and the protagonists own POV. Another smashing Dawson book, not sure I’ll ever read anything she’s written without being blown away. Also I cried. More than once.

So I went into this thinking it would be a story about queer ladies in the 40s. it wasn’t, but there was some queer storylines, not enough for my liking though lol. i listened to this through an app called BorrowBox where you can use your library card login and gain access to the eBooks and eAudiobooks your library has to offer. i’m so glad i found that app lol. anyway! this book was emotional but it didn’t blow me away so 3 stars is all she’s getting
