DANG this one had me LOCKED IN. It felt like Grady Hendrix dropped us into an episode of Supernatural, so obviously I loved every second of it! Definitely my favorite in the series so far.

Ok, so this was a fun introduction to Grady Hendrix, but like… why wouldn’t they do more to save their son? Why wouldn’t they pack their shit and leave? I would NEVER leave my children so willingly and knowingly to be killed by something. The fuck. Obviously severe reaction being a parent.Ok, now I am coming back to this because I'm still really annoyed about the ending. I think what would have made this stronger would be to see the mother be with her son and do what she can to support it, even if it means death. I don't know any parent who would knowingly leave their child to die! I think I wanted to know more about wtf these things are and why the family left the island in the first place, and why they came back. I think this as a short story wasn't the best medium. I would 100% read a much longer, detailed version of this story and especially if it was more realistic than a mom shrugging her shoulders and saying "I've done all that I can!"
Really good, like an inverse of Doctor Who’s weeping angels. Would love to see Grady wrote more on this
