This is the greatest novel that I have ever read. It took me two years to read this on and off, but way before I finished it I knew this would be one of my favourites. It's an epic story filled with love, adventure, action, friendship, loss and much more. I don't know what else to say other than everyone should read this, even if you're not a huge Western genre fan. If I could give this six stars, I would.
This is the second time I e read this wonderful book. I loved every minute of it.

S-tier book
This is the best book I’ve ever read and it surely will be in my top 10 of all time.
The characters feel so real and the story doesn’t really lull the entire time. I’ve never been so engaged by chats around the fire, making breakfast, storms, long treks, lost loves, and tragedy. The character development was stellar and while the chapters do bounce around from character to character it always served a larger purpose and I appreciated McCurtry spending the time to build out their world. The length of the book was perfect as well. By the end I felt the distance they traveled and how hard it was along the way.
If I could give this more than 5 stars I would.
