Overall very decent. If everyone knew and utilized these strategies, we would have a better world.

I am lucky enough to have a veryyyy emotionally intelligent mother, so I knew most of these things already, but still a solid book.

Emotional Intelligence 2.0 was given to me by my boss upon being hired. I've put off reading it, but in an effort to read everything on my shelves, I finally got around to it.
I liked this book for a lot of reasons. It was simple, easy to read, with easily applicable suggestions and a test to measure where you are. I appreciated how straightforward the outline of the book was and liked quite a few of their suggestions. This reminded me a lot of The How of Happiness, which I read a few years ago at a friend's suggestion. Unfortunately, Emotional Intelligence 2.0 didn't quite measure up to The How of Happiness. For one, Happiness elaborates their points more and gives scientific research to back up each suggestion it makes. Emotional doesn't do this. The descriptions of each suggestion are brief and sometimes seem incomplete and too short. Also, Happiness was a lot more friendly and the tone was more gentle. Emotional is written for the workplace and this is obvious given the writing and the presentation.
I did like this book and will probably utilize some of the suggestions. However, I find that often, books like this are less useful than they want you to believe. It seems far too stereotypical businessy self-help for me to take it too seriously.
