This was really disappointing. I listened to it on cd and even the narrator was annoying. He used this high pitched voice when quoting women that was ridiculous. The book itself was boring, repetitive and nothing I hadn't heard before.
Rounded up from 3.5.
This was a pretty good toolkit for improving self awareness, self management, social awareness, and social management. The intro was a bit of a marketing push for the assessment which is, whatever, but the 4 sections were more or less valuable.
The epilogue and the “statistics “ represented were laughable. Not worth your time.

When my husband came back from a management conference and recommended this book to me, I was pretty skeptical. But I decided to give it a go. So, the premise is that not only does everyone have an IQ, but they have an EQ as well. The EQ is the emotional intelligence is broken down into four sections: Self-Awareness, Self-Management, Social Awareness, and Relationship Management. Each book has a "passcode" in the back where you can log on to the website and take the EQ quiz. Then there are 66 strategies to help you improve your scores. I will say that anyone can improve from these strategies and it is actually good advice.
Lots of practical advice about how to manage emotions. The book is organized well: it is broken into four categories. Chapters are sprinkled throughout, and very short to read. A lot of the advice in this book can be implemented pronto.
It earns four stars because the data is old. Another book needs to be made with updated figures. Also, I felt like the data was lacking in general for this book. I wanted to see statistical evidence for each strategy, or a citation to a study. There wasn’t much empirical evidence until the end of the book(which was fascinating, it changed my perspective about Chinese companies)...
Overall, I do feel that this book has something for everyone. It is definitely worth a read.

The distills down a lot of "common sense" practices into something easily readable, albeit it a bit boring.
This took me a long time to get through. It just didn’t speak to me.
Oh boy where do I begin. This test itself is total bullshit as it's extremely clear what the 'right' answer is. They use am American grading system for test results, which really does a disservice to everyone.
They give no info on the size or demographics of all their 'data'. Which I find laughable anyway since self awareness is something being tested. Both the book and the test are extremely neuro-typical. This book definitely shows its age.
The 1 star is for the actual 'strategies' which is basically rebranded therapy. If you're looking for a book on emotional intelligence pick literally any book on therapy and it'll be better.
