It started off promising.

I'm no stranger to dark romance, but this felt.... flat. I feel like the premise was good, but the execution left something to be desired. I felt like the characters weren't fleshed out enough to pull off the tension and struggle I need in a why chose.

I also almost dnfed at 86% because of one of the spicy scenes. You'd think it would be one of the triggering ones, but honestly, it was just gross. Going down during shark week was solid no for me.

nice story decent spice

Nice character development, good spice, and nice dark elements. Definitely check TWs because of at least one that is big for some. Happy reading!

HERO /HEROINE:
Blake has one brown eye, the other blue and has been bullied for it her whole life. white blonde hair. She grew up in the foster system and has a hard time making friends. Her only friend is Gabby who married rich and has been helping her out with finding a job and a place to live.

Zayden and Dominic are twins and mercenaries. Zayden is more unhinged in the mental and violent way but Dominic is equally as violent and dangerous, he's just not outwardly crazy about getting his hands dirty. They are identical except for their eyes and tattoos. Zayden has blue and is covered in tattoos while Dominic has brown with no tattoos.

OVERALL THOUGHTS:
Zayden has been stalking his angel, Blake, for months now and one night while she is walking home someone tries hurting her. Zayden takes that threat out and gets caught. Unfortunately for him he is put in jail with no bail and has to ask his brother, Dominic, to watch out for her while he's gone. Dominic keeps his word and falls hard for her.

The author gave us several chapters of Blake and Dominic together, just the two of them. He is unbelievably sweet and generous with his time and care for her. I like that we got to see how they became what they are, before they become a throuple.

It's not until the 14th chapter that Zayden gets back into the picture and really comes in with a bang. Non con Somnophilia and then another non con scene. Each scene Blake thinks it's Dominic when it's not. And then she clearly calls Zayden a rapist a couple of times and rightfully freaks out. It's glossed over, there is no punishment for him. Author gives Blake confusing feelings, because he's hot and she likes the violence of it but it's new so it's confusing. I feel like if you don't like dark romance and can't justify the actions, then you're not gonna like this book. This book has some depressing scenes and detailed explicit sexual assault, past (child) and present.

WHAT I DIDN’T LIKE:
Second book this year where someone is getting bullied for having two different colored eyes?? 🙄 What pick me shit is that.
It feels like there were several other storylines set up but then abandoned. For example,  the best friend and her husband, they sounded nice when it came to how they helped her but then the author turned them evil. Like why were they so obsessed with her moving in with them? If the husband had a crush, why was he climbing fire escapes to stalk her? That seems like odd and dangerous behavior for a small side character. Why was the best friend flirting with Dominic but also super protective of Blake? It didn't feel finished. And it felt like I couldn't rely on the author or main characters.

SAFETY

AGE:
Blake is 28, I love an older heroine

SEXUAL HISTORY:
They all been fucking around

CONDOMS:
No
“ “Fuck yes,” Zayden groans. “Thank you, brother. Push my cum back into my angel. Fuck her nice and pregnant for me, will you?” “

TUMMY BUTTERFLIES:
They were doing the most that's for sure but I didn't think it was written well.

PUSH/PULL:
Blake has issues when she finds out about the whole twin stuff but she eventually comes around.

SEPARATION:
Yes. First a few months for Zayden, then he had to leave for work trips which were a few days at a time. Then in the end she was missing I think maybe at most two or three days?

CHEATING:
Yes, but with another main love interest. They are all vying for each other and while it is cheating and Dominic gets in his feelings about it, by then the reader knows that everyone is going to be together and they just haven't voiced their wants yet.

OW (Other Woman)/OM (Other Man) drama:
OW - a woman at the club.
OM - the author made Blake a temptress apparently. So she collects men's attention wherever they go and the guys crash out and make it everyone's problem.

SEX SCENE WITH OW/OM:
Yes, but it's all assaults. From the past (child) to the present. If you have a weak stomach, be mindful.

POSSIBLE PET PEEVES/TRIGGERS:
The author provided a trigger warning page! “Please take this warning seriously. This is not a light little liability trigger warning page, this is the real deal. The main male characters are not the good guys, in fact one of them is downright terrible. This story is drenched with sex, violence and questionable acts. I beg of you to please carefully read the triggers and really ask yourself if this list is a red or green flag. If you’re hesitant at all, don’t read this book. There will be others, I promise. If you are at all uncomfortable with anything listed below please put the book down. Protect yourself at all costs, no amount of good smut is worth your mental health. The triggers in this book include but are most definitely not limited to: Violence, explicit language, explicit sexual scenes, non-con, dub-con, CNC, stalking, knife play, blood play, rape (mention of), murder, choking, spanking, spitting, Plan B, somnophilia, graphic torture, dismemberment, child abuse, double penetration, cheating, sharing, breeding, fear, anal, branding.”

HEA/HFN:
HEA

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️1/2

I don’t know why I let this book languish in my TBR for so long! (Yes, my ARC schedule was brutal, but I should have forced an opening for it).

Not just one but two unhinged MMCs to love! This book is violent and filled with delicious smut.

There are some very dark themes - the FMC is a survivor of multiple years SA. The MMCs are bloodthirsty mercenaries. But we get some satisfying revenge out of it.

Mixed burn MFM with twins! (Hello twin sandwiches). Kinky times include blood and knife play, DP, primal.

This is a complete standalone that ends in a HEA.
