I think this is a really special book, making one of the earliest recorded poems available in English. You have the original Brythonic Welsh on one page and the English on the other, and I think it’s amazing how she has worked to keep a sense of rhythm and rhyme in the English, using phrases we would understand while keeping as close as possible to the original.
To know the names and get an insight into the characters of real people who lived so long ago is very special.
The only reason I didn’t give it 5 stars is probably because i read it in silence and in a couple of sittings. I think it would be amazing read aloud, but I just didn’t have the space to do that. I’d love to hear this poem at an event with the English t translations subtitled or something.
