I adored this book. I love Saphira. The characters are amazing and their relationships are good. The worldbuilding is great. The pacing isn't consistent, it's slow at times and fast at others but overall it's fine.

My favorite installment in the series yet - the action. The revelations. The urge to dive right into Inheritance.

Idk what to say about this, it took me 2 months to finish lmao
It's not bad, it wasn't even boring, like the first half of Eldest, I was just busy with life so now I don't remember much of what happened in the first half of this. I'll forever love Eragon's sword tho, that part made me binge the ending instead of getting to work
So much happened in this book too, tbh, but at the same time it's kind of an in-between, mild stuff happens so the bigger stuff can happen in Inheritance, and considering that they were going to be one book, it makes sense I guess

I like that the author experimented with the structure of the book, going from perspective to perspective among the different characters, but boy, did this book drag. A lot of the details didn't feel necessary, and the book felt like it was long for the sake of being long.

The middle lagged a bit, but the ending made up for it. I enjoyed the ending of this book in the series more than either of the other two. One thing that I appreciate as the series moves on is that Paolini seems to be doubling back on his earlier misogynistic take on his fantasy world. Though he can’t just undo the patriarchal system in place among the humans, the other races of this world seem a little more balanced, and the woman who do play a major role in the series are distinct and complex.
