I started the Inheritance series back in high school over a decade ago, finally got around to reading the third installment. Thus continues the adventures of Eragon and Saphira as they embroil themselves in the politics of their world as war is about to begin.
Paolini definitely could have used an editor, he meanders needlessly and tends to fixate on the unnecessary. The 750 page book could have easily been ~500 with a few snips here an there. I'll be a little generous and say some of his homages to other works of fiction were also fairly blatant (a city called Gil'Ead taken over by the evil empire for example). The first half of the book was a bit of a slog, but around 2/3rds of the way through, it picked up and got more interesting. Points for adding a synopsis of the previous books at the beginning!

Idk what to say about this, it took me 2 months to finish lmao
It's not bad, it wasn't even boring, like the first half of Eldest, I was just busy with life so now I don't remember much of what happened in the first half of this. I'll forever love Eragon's sword tho, that part made me binge the ending instead of getting to work
So much happened in this book too, tbh, but at the same time it's kind of an in-between, mild stuff happens so the bigger stuff can happen in Inheritance, and considering that they were going to be one book, it makes sense I guess

I like that the author experimented with the structure of the book, going from perspective to perspective among the different characters, but boy, did this book drag. A lot of the details didn't feel necessary, and the book felt like it was long for the sake of being long.
