This book was SO great that I finished it in a day. The only reason I don’t give 5 stars is because the ending seemed a little lackluster but that is my own opinion and in no way does it take away from the other 99.9% of how wonderful this book is and how dark it is. Dare IS not the hero. He is not the good guy. He is toxic. And this book shines a light on how easy it is to get swept up with people like Dare.

I’ve never given a book 1 star which is saying a lot

Sam Mariano is rapidly become one of my fave True DR authors, she doesn't hesitate to create some of the most messed up, vile MMCs out there. The way he starts out nice, and by the time you think you know him, he shows his true colours. It's so expertly written that I had goosebumps while reading certain parts, cause they're downright horrific.

Love it, this might be my most favourite work by her after Untouchable

this book stressed me out so much. didn't hate it didn't love it

Angsty, dramatic, crazy, and just toxic af.

I have a lot of thoughts about this book but lack the skill to fully articulate them in a review. Or, I’m too lazy. Or both. At any rate, I think it’s cute how Sam Mariano says in the author’s note, “…if you meet a Dare in the real world, you should run like the wind.” Then proceeds to write a character that absolutely would not let you run away from him.

This book made me feel like I was losing my mind but it was actually them losing their minds. Ate it up though

??? This was horrendous. It's only a 2 bc of hannah. How fucking stupid are they.

This was some dark shit where the antihero/villain isn’t redeemable (he is a true psychopath) and the heroine stays with him out of love and fear.
There were some questions that weren’t answered, one blaring one was what that one nightmare was that terrified him enough to be vulnerable. (UPDATE: apparently according to the author in a spoiler group page, the nightmare was an act). But then the next big question is why did he take a picture of Hannah. I’m guessing to show Anae so she will torture Hannah when she returns.
I do agree with others where there still remains an imbalance and their story still seems a bit open.

I was looking for a book out of my comfort zone and Sam Mariano always delivers that. The most entertaining thing about these stories, for me, is that you really have no clue where is gonna end up, the characters have for better or (in most cases) worst, absolutely no limits. So apart from it being extra-dark is also pretty bonkers, and nothing keeps my attention like a bonkers story does.

4 stars because the book did what it said it would do.
-1 for what was, in my opinion, an unbelievable HEA.

***Also what was up with all the Hannah stuff? Is she getting a book?
