The misogyny is strong in this one and you only get a few glimpses of Miss Jane Marple so it's a bit lackluster. The male gaze is sooooo bad since the main perspective is an invalid who seems to get around quite nimbly for being in recovery from a plane crash.

In this Miss Marple novel, there is no Miss Marple until page 140! Poison pen letters are circulating and cause one woman to kill herself. A man who has come with his sister to the village to recuperate acts the detective part, sharing what he knows with Jane who gives him more credit than he perhaps deserves for solving the crime.

Nothing wrong with the story, I just picked up the book at the wrong time. I'll come back and finish it another time when I'm in the mood for Agatha Christie's work again.
Another enjoyable Mrs. Marple mystery. My only big complaint is that Mrs. Marple doesn't make an appearance until almost the last quarter of the book. It felt like someone else did most of the detective work, then she came in, put the last few clues together, and got the credit for solving the mystery.
