I wanted to read this book I have read the first couple of books in the Eddie Flynn series and really enjoyed Steve Cavanagh’s style of writing. I was really intrigued in the storyline, and it did not disappoint. This book was amazing.

The main character is Eddie Flynn, who was once a con man, an ex-lawyer who has had an interesting cases recently including fighting for his life against the Russian mafia, helping David Child, a major client of a corrupt law firm and Leonard Howard who wanted to find his daughter. Eddie is wanting a stable job so that he can go back and get his wife and daughter back and live a peaceful life. However his newest client is Robert Solomon. He is a Hollywood star and he was part of the hottest power couple and now his wife is dead and he is being charged with the murder. This is the celebrity murder trial of the century and the defence team wants Eddie Flynn to help with the case. All the evidence points to Robert’s guilt, but as the trial begins a series of incidents in the court room start to raise doubts in Eddie’s mind. What if there is more than one actor in the courtroom. This is an adult fictional legal thriller.

This novel is great because it grips you from the very first chapter. The storyline is intriguing. The characters are easy to love with a lot of development and the plot twist is amazing.  My favourite chapters in any type of these books are when the main character figures everything out and has a game plan. You feel hype out for the character and want him to succeed. The one thing I would say that I didn’t like personally, a book peeve of mine, is small chapters. However, for once it worked. Especially as the tension was building and then changed to somewhere else. This was the first time this series had multiple POVs which just made it better and I loved it. Especially as you don’t know exactly who the bad guy is showing as. So Eddie was thinking it was someone completely different and we believed him and it all didn’t come out until the end.

I bloody loved this book and it managed to keep me hooked from the beginning and I am intrigued for the next book. I gave this book 5 stars as I loved the storyline and the plot twists.

P.S. Netflix I would watch this if you made it a series.

This was good and had the potential to be a really excellent read. I don’t normally read crime fiction but this came highly recommended. The plot was really well thought out - even while knowing that the killer is on the jury, there are still a number of things that keep you on your toes.
Where it let itself down was the character development. I know that this is #4 in a series of books about this same lawyer, but they can also be read a stand-alone books. I think there are way too many characters, very few of which are developed and this means that some of the parts that are supposed to be shocking don’t land the way they should. I found myself having to flick back to figure out who the reveal character was and what I had missed.
The action scenes were also really hard to follow, a little bit too much was left to the imagination and I had to keep rereading paragraphs to understand what had happened.
THAT being said, I did enjoy reading this. The things I listed stopped it from being a 5 star read, but once I hit the 60% point I had to finish it and stayed up til 3am to do so.

I wasn't expecting a lot with this one because I don't like the author's style of writing but the plot just seemed so good that I was sucked in.

This follows Eddie Flynn a lawyer who is pulled into a high profile murder case that rivals that of OJ. He quickly realises that his client is innocent but with the evidence stacked against him Eddie struggles to find a way to prove that. All unbeknownst to him, a serial killer is watching him, trying to influence the trial, all from the Jury.

I won't get into the fact that I didn't like the writing because we already know that but I did really like Kane's perspective. He had the most interesting bits by far and sometimes I would skip buts of Eddie's chapters just to get to him. I think Kane's voice was really interesting so it confuses me that I didn't like Eddie's.

The plot itself is what kept me going the whole time. Every time I thought I knew what was happening Kane would do something or information would come out about him which would throw an absolute curveball into the mix. Overall that was the best part of the book.

I felt the ending seemed a bit rushed. I understand with a thriller it's a lot of build-ups and the action seems to happen at the end but here I just kind of blinked and it was over which I don't like.

Not going to lie, after about halfway I did begin to skim because it was taking me a long time to finish but I did enjoy elements of this book. I wouldn't recommend but I didn't completely hate this.

A fairly average crime novel, with a plot not as exciting as the blurb makes it sound. The switch between third person POV (the killer) and first person POV (the lawyer) was fairly jarring at first, and took a while to get used to. Not a terrible way to pass the time, but not particularly thrilling either.
