This book has all the usual charm of Hemingway's writing, but is mainly just an account of his time hunting in Africa, which I personally didn't find that interesting

As always, “not bad Hemingway” is still better than good most anyone else. To be fair, Papa still writes from an incredibly constrained male perspective and doesn’t bother to develop his women. Must read in context to appreciate, because Hemingway is hard pressed to meet modern expectations otherwise.

Not my favorite of his. It's definitely not the writing as to why. I just wasn't that interested in the subject matter. His descriptions of the African landscape were great though.

As usual, Hemingway giving you the facts and letting you do the conclusion. Beautifully writ with subtle humor and imagery. Made me admire the author even more.
"I would come back to Africa but not to make a living from it. I could do that with two pencils and a few hundred sheets of the cheapest paper. But I would come back to where it pleased me to live, to really live. Not just to let my life pass."

Not a very good anecdote.
