Ryker, Heath, and Denver had a terrible childhood who managed to escape but are still haunted by their past. They decide to start doing investigative work, searching for lost people. Zara and her law firm had contracted the brothers to help on a previous case and that's how Zara and Ryker met. Their relationship went from work-related to satisfying their desires with no strings attached. Ryker has many secrets he isn't ready to share with Zara but when his past starts catching up to him, he may have to drop his defenses around Zara and welcome her into his dangerous life.

He'd share his body and nothing else with her. [...] From day one he'd been clear that this wasn't forever, that he wasn't interested in a future. Neither was she.

I didn't know this was the spin-off to the Sin Brothers series. With that said, I never felt like I was missing out on anything. The main characters of Sin Brothers make appearances in this novel and boy, am I going to be checking out that series. This is also my first book by Rebecca Zanetti and it sure won't be my last!

Ryker was never interested in having a relationship with Zara. He didn't want to settle down if he had to be on the move soon after so he kept the relationship physical. When Zara ends up in an altercation, Ryker can't help but feel very protective of her and he soon realizes that he may just want more out of this affair. I like that Ryker was never hot and cold with Zara. Soon after he realizes he wants more, he slowly starts opening up to her and giving her glimpses to his past. I was afraid this would be one of those books where the guy distances himself from the girl to protect her. I was squinting my eyes while reading, hoping to not reach a part like that in the story and thank goodness it didn't happen! Ryker knew the only way to keep Zara safe was to stay with her and work together, along with his brothers.

Zara isn't sure she wants something more with Ryker. The guy doesn't settle down in one place before he's on the move again so she keeps herself guarded. Ryker being the Alpha male he is, he worms his way into Zara's personal life until she starts trusting him. I was loving Ryker's and Zara's relationship so much! They fit so perfectly together. Ryker would never push Zara into something she wasn't ready for. From the beginning, he was so caring of her, he just didn't know it yet. Zara turned out to be a great, strong, fierce female character. After being in danger a few times, I thought she'd make lots of stupid decisions, but she didn't! She understood what was at stake and would think things very logically, just as the brothers would do.

"I ain't easy, I know... but I'll be worth it."

During the first part of the story, the relationship between Ryker and Zara is the main focus with the mystery looming in close. After a while, the mystery takes the front seat and keeps the readers on their toes until the very end. The suspense had me close to biting my nails. I had no freaking idea what was about to happen or what danger was ahead. The danger had me so scared when I got to it. I was fearing for these amazing characters. Then there's the action part. Holy hell, that was brilliant. I could totally see this as a movie! Rebecca Zanetti did a great job in describing the climax of the story incredibly well. I was picturing everything that was happening very vividly in my head, such as the explosions, being on the run, all the fights, and much more.

Deadly Silence is a gripping action-packed page-turner with a hot romance and a strong bond between brothers that will have you eagerly wanting more from these characters. While I try to be a patient potato for the sequel Lethal Lies, I'll be starting the Sin Brothers series!

I received an eARC from the publisher for free in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.

Going into Deadly Silence I was thinking I would be reading a straight up romantic suspense. I have only read Rebecca Zanetti's paranormal books so I was looking forward to the change. While Deadly Silence is high on the suspense part, there still a smidgen of the paranormal. I've read a few stories in this same vein and I think Zanetti executed this extra aspect to Ryker, Heath, and Denver excellently without delving too far over into the paranormal category.

Also, I wasn't aware (until reading the acknowledgements in the beginning) that this series is a spin-off of her Sin Brothers Series. I haven't read that series as of yet, but I can confidently say that, while I'm sure it enhances the story to have previously read that series, it's not required. Characters from the Sin Brothers do make an appearance in this first book. It was easy to discern who was who and where they came from as well as getting some background information on the other characters' series. I actually thought this was one of the stronger aspects in the story.

What was a bit off for me was the fact that there are so many different storylines going on all at once just within the time frame of this book.

Ryker, Heath, and Denver grew up in a less-than-ideal boys home. They bonded and survived, and now they're blood brothers helping others find those lost with their Lost Bastards Investigative Services. They've also never stopped looking for where they came from, their families.

The brothers find themselves in Cisco, Wyoming following a case. It's an area they've frequented in the past, and it's also where Ryker met paralegal Zara Remington, while he was working a case for her law firm. Up until now they've managed to keep no strings attached between them, but as a case that Zara's working on puts her in the line of fire, Ryker is there to protect her.

Just from that brief summary, it's established that there's a current job Zara's working on, a current job Ryker is working on, and stuff from Ryker's past that is popping up. There's also some other conflicts that branch off of the "stuff from Ryker's past" category. Simply put: it's just too much in one book. So much that I felt all these storylines came across as weaker than they could have been. If the story had focused on one of these plotlines I feel the whole book could have been so much stronger. I understand the need to have a lot going on because this book is not only about these three Blood Brothers finding love, it's about them putting the past to rest and moving forward and needing to include everything is almost essential. But it's really easy to lose focus on the bigger picture.

Because there are some really promising moments in this book. I loved the bond between the three men. The idea of family in all its forms. The past the men share that so much affects their present and future. Working towards finding out the mystery of where they came from. All great parts of this story.

Great enough that I won't let something like an overloaded story keep me from reading the next book in the series that's for sure. Hopefully, since Deadly Secrets introduced so much, a lot of those threads will carry over into the next book(s) and those will seem a little less jam-packed.

Zara Remington is living her lonely life. Her friend Ryker Jones comes into town every once in a while and shows her a good time.

This time is different he has moved permanently to Cisco, WY. He and his brothers run The Lost Bastards Investigative Agency. They are amazing at finding the lost. Being lost and hiding themselves make things a little more complicated. They work with lawyers, which is how Ryker met Zara, and they also help the FBI. All while staying hidden from those that seek to find them.

Zara is a paralegal, she is currently representing the soon to be ex-husband of her good friend. She hasn't seen her friend in years and it turns out she is abused by her husband who just happens to the mayor. Zara is sneaking around and helping her friend by telling her things she should not know as well as giving her money.

When her friend is accused of being a drug addict, Zara goes to investigate the hotel room. When her friend is found murdered Zara is the number one suspect. At the same time Greg shows up to hire the team to find the doctor that created him and turns out to be the same woman that researched him and his brothers when they were children.

As the past catches up to the men, the police are circling Zara. Ryker is more and more nervous about losing the woman he loves and protecting the quickly growing group of people around him.

Sin Brothers meet Blood Brothers! Let's make it a one big happy family!
I like how these man really wants a family, despite their crappy childhood. I mean, they could go the other way, deciding that people suck, but once they love, it's automatically family to them.
I'm a bit perplexed because of what was said about Greg in the last book of Sin Brothers, but I'll just go with the flow :P

WOW!!! Another great series in the making from Rebecca Zanetti. I love the way this author writes. However, after reading about the Blood Brothers, I am now going back and reading about the Sin Brothers.

Deadly Silence was packed with action, danger and romance, and I couldn't set the book down until I had finished reading! This series is even more fast paced than the Sin Brothers series, and that's saying something.

Review - (un)Conventional Bookviews

Deadly Silence is the first in a spin-off of the Sin Brothers series, and I do think it's important to read that series first to get some of the things that happen this one. Especially when it comes to some of the mystery surrounding the blood brothers. And there is so much action in this story it was at such a break-neck speed it was hard to catch my breath more than once! I enjoyed both the backstory and the present story, both were important to the overall story and plot.

Ryker is the main character in Deadly Silence, however, his blood brothers, and co-owners of The Lost Bastards Investigative Agency are important as well. Zara was a strong woman, she was able to analyse situations fast, and she didn't hesitate to walk into danger to do her best to save those she cared about.

The romance took the back-seat in Deadly Silence, but the heat between Zara and Ryker was present even when the main focus was either the mystery or a seemingly impossible fight they had to face in order to survive. I loved the common threads to the Sin Brothers series, and I cannot recommend this book enough to all romantic suspense fans! It's well written, filled with excitement, and the character development is on point.

Written in third person, past tense, Deadly Silence moves quickly, and holding on to your seat is necessary in some places. I can't wait to read the other books in this fantastic series.

A roar of motorcycle pipes echoed down her quiet street. Tingles exploded in her abdomen. Hurrying for the shoes, she bit back a wince upon slipping her feet in. The little kitten heels she'd worn to work had been much more comfortable.

Slowly, he shrugged out of his jacket and draped it on his chair, drawing the chair out to sit, his movements controlled and with a hint of something... violent.

Why did people with loved ones get killed while a guy like him, who for so long hadn't had anybody, still walked the earth?

I'm not sure how she does it, but Ms. Zanetti sucks you right in. A great start to another series.
