Pretty good. I am not a huge fantasy reader so it took me a while to get into but I enjoyed it and plan on reading the rest of the series. I liked Yennifer being introduced.

This reads like a Straight White Man fantasy written for Straight White Men.
Any enjoyment I had of the plot was overshadowed by the sheer annoyance of the way the female characters were written. No female character was allowed to exist outside of the sexist ideals, and could have no character development outside of sleeping with The Witcher.
The Witcher has never even HEARD of The Bechdel Test.
(We won’t even get into the fact that a white woman is the most diverse character in this series)
On a positive note, I can see how the pacing and structure of the stories lends itself to a video game, as the stories are self contained enough but still have some longer through lines to keep you interested.
It’s a shame. I would continue the series if there was any sense of diversity, but alas, with all the books in the world, I don’t need to read another Straight White Man fantasy series.

Heh. I had higher expectations I have to say. I'm imoressed with how badly the women are written and treated. And I'm not a fan of the all-powerful mysterious main character that wins by simply being always the best. I don't know if I want to continue the series.
