This is my third Philip K. Dick novel. I know he is a Master of the Sci-Fi genre, but I just did not find the two books I read, [b:The Man in the High Castle|216363|The Man in the High Castle|Philip K. Dick|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1448756803s/216363.jpg|2398287], and [b:Martian Time-Slip|697251|Martian Time-Slip|Philip K. There was a twist in who was actually the protagonist and antagonist of the book, and at the end, I'm not really sure there were any true protagonists.

On the negatives, there is a fair amount of racism and sexism. I know it was a reflection of the times the book was written, but to be honest, after reading about 50 books from many of the grand masters of the genre written in the 50's and the 60's, it's starting to get old real fast.

All and all I have not completely written off Mr. Dick, it will be on to [b:Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?|7082|Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?|Philip K. Dick|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1435458683s/7082.jpg|830939]

Good, but not his best. Wasn't heavy on the philosophy. Pretty good as a post-apocalyptic story, though.

Characters were mostly believable. With a couple exceptions, though one was supposed to be crazy. Schizophrenic, I think, like a lot of Dick's characters. The characters didn't have enough depth to be GOOD, though.

Didn’t really get it. Too many shallow characters to keep track of. Confusing plot that is also boring. Seemed like it would have made a good short story if it was half the length and written much better.

This was a book club pick, not something I would choose myself. I really tried but it’s too dark and heavy and I don’t need to internalize that right now.
