A romcom with a deeper meaning of love, growth and inspiration. Great for the back to school season. I found it pulled me in from the first page and kept me turning easily throughout. Ended leaving me feeling mushy and in love.

This book really needed to be longer and show more detail for any of the character behaviour and development to be even mildly believable. The whiplash we get from the hero being extremely strict to him confessing his crush under medication to him suddenly taking part in goofy challenges is astonishing. I loved Things You Save in a Fire, but this didn't come anywhere close for me.

TW: This is a book about a school principal OBSESSED with school security.

I know that Katherine Center could not have foreseen the school tragedy in Uvalde, but she wrote this book after the shooting in Santa Fe High School in 2018. Did I mention that Santa Fe High School is in Galveston County? Yeah, NOPE. This feels irresponsible. I never DNF book club books, but I refuse to read this triggering book.
