this was absolutely stunning, just lyrical prose and so much passion and heart and empathy for every woman who has suffered before. it was gut wrenching and so touching, and it really struck me. absolutely beautiful writing. i wasn’t fully invested, i think for several reasons (parts of it felt too fantastical, i think i would’ve enjoyed it more if it was just a crow talking to her) but i loved how this weaved the past and present and the continual parallels. absolutely was worth the read (or listen, lol).

A short but incredibly powerful book. In a poetic, lyrical manner, Fagan gives us a fictional glimpse into the North Berwick witch trails. While a clear homage to Geillis Duncan (an actual victim), the story’s also an exploration of injustices against women, and how witch trails are not necessarily a thing of the past. Loved it.
