It was *not* a Nora Kelly book. It was a Corrie Swanson book with Nora coming in as side-kick.
It was a good treasure hunting yarn inspired on real Legends.
Good over all but the shtick of "men overpowering the young girl agent" got to be old and overdone fast.
At least let her kick someone in the nuts. Nope. Just keep kicking *her.*
I was over that pretty fast.

Solid if somewhat unremarkable addition to the Kelly/Swanson team-up saga.

This one takes Nora to a ghost town with old Spanish gold and gold-diggers galore. Also the gold digging turns out to be close to the site of the original Manhattan Project so we get some fun storytelling out of that whole...thing.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book! The Nora/Corrie series is different to the Pendergast series, in that it is more ruttin-tuttin' and more of a fun treasure hunt. Whereas, in the Pendergast series there are mysteries to be solved and twists upon twists. With the Nora/Corrie series we're beginning to see a trend of a historical discovery leading to buried treasure. I like this. I find it enjoyable, exciting, and not too taxing.

Wow. I had a whole review written about how I normally like Preston and Child books, but that this one was totally sexist. I tried to correct a typo, and the whole review was deleted. Dammit.

Here's is the short version.
Both of the main female characters are ridiculously insecure for no apparent reason. All the characters make really stupid decisions that serve no purpose other than lazy writing to advance the plot. The all knowing Prendergast trots in at the very end to mansplain everything (more lazy writing). Overall a very disappointing book .
