I don't know why the narrator got the job, she really is quite bad, she can neither do male voices or accents. Come to that, she can't do female voices either without it sounding like she's playing with her Barbie dolls. It's a good job the story is so compelling because the narration really lets it down.

I really like Corrie Swanson and Nora Kelly. I also liked Sheriff Watts and his sharp shooting! These books are always enjoyable, good for fast paced, action filled, mystery-solving.

A ghost town, grave robbers, strangely mummified bodies found buried beneath the dunes… This novel is an archaeological mystery set in the sands of New Mexico. Lost gold of Spanish missionaries, a small ranch house with ties to the factual Dr. Oppenheimer…it’s a case of science and history that catches up to present-day crimes, and I enjoyed the adventure, danger, and scenery of it all.

This is the second book in the series, and though it doesn’t offer as much historical fiction as the first, it was still fun to be transported to the rich reds of bedrock and sandswept vistas, exploring the secluded ghost town that harbors clues to the past. Pairing archaeology with FBI forensics is an interesting combination to satisfy would-be sleuths, history buffs, and outdoor enthusiasts alike. I will say I liked the first story better; this one turned a little bit hokey in the end, bad guys and police duking it out like old timey spaghetti Western cowboys, coppers, and robbers

I do like how the author brings in interesting historical events into a mystery twinged with archeology and excitement. Would be a good airplane read.

I still want more from this series, and some of the plot “twists” are out of left field, or very obvious. But this was much more enjoyable than the first.

I really enjoyed it and I'm looking forward to the next book in the series.
