Well plotted, engaging characters. PArticularly liked the teenaged charachters and how they were developed. Missing person case in southern Australia is a slow burn with some tangled relationships but worth the wait. I liked this a lot more than Harper's last book, The Survivors.
Really great end to the Aaron Falk series. I’m sad she won’t be writing anymore with him in it but this one was filled with the same heart and great mystery as the first one.
Reading Harper’s books always makes me want to live in Australia. This is not a story about crime but also about life.

I really enjoyed returning to the Aaron Falk series - Jane Harper has a way of getting you really drawn into the story, and this was no different.
I loved the setting for this - small town Australia in summer, and all the sights and sounds that go with it. Family & friends returning to their small town for a celebration, but also for the anniversary of the disappearance of one of their own. The pace for this is slow, much like Harper’s other books, but it means that you can’t see how quickly you become hooked. I read the last half in one sitting because I had to know what had happened.
I think this was a fantastic way to end the Aaron Falk series, and I’m really looking forward to Jane Harper’s next release.

Slower than it needed to be at times, and the ending might be divisive. We get more of Falk as a character, which was nice. Overall, I enjoyed it.
I'm not sure I'd jump to read future books in this series. Not because this one was bad, but it felt like a bookend and I'm good with where it leaves off.

I love Jane Harper…. A good mystery novel is always one that takes time to solve and she does a great job at keeping the reader in suspense.

This book just moved too slowly. It was 25% in before the case unfolded and 81% until there was any ramp up. By the time we got answers, I was no longer invested. It felt like the sole intention was wrapping up the story of the series character. Not sure if this is the final book, but it felt like it

Couldn’t stop myself from devouring it. Jane Harper knows how to feed you a murder mystery piecemeal, leaving you with so many open leads, you don’t know where to look until everything falls into place.
