This was almost a fun little story but I just couldn't stomach the constant, unchecked misogyny. While the female characters clearly hate it, the protagonist doesn't care and just doubles down on it, with the last line being the final kicker that knocked my review down from 2 stars. The mystery wasn't even good, with the characters jumping to conclusions with very little basis or evidence, and without knowing the world better the reader had no hope of working anything out themselves. The writing style was fun for a short story and apart from the content it was well written.
While it was a nice suprise to get more Kickstarter content, this story was huge disappointment and I don't know what possessed Brandon Sanderson to make this the end of the Year of Sanderson. I thought even if it was written 20 years ago he might have edited it, but obviously not enough.
