What a fascinating little book. The author is Swedish and her tone can come off as harsh- I beg you to read it as a translation, as a woman adjusting to her own losses, mortality, and impact on the world. I don't think it's too harsh at all, especially if you read it as someone who is working through these thoughts and feelings with you.

This has been the only book on death that has not scared the living sh*t out of me. It truly changed my perspective on death and owning "stuff" as a whole and I am 23 so probably not the ideal audience for this book but I would recommend this book to anyone who feels they are drowning in their belongings or has a poor relationship with the items they own.

Great title! That's the best I can say of this book.
It almost felt like the author was saying, "don't take up space. Don't be a bother to anyone."
Maybe it was the fact that she was not writing in her mother tongue, but it felt like I was being lectured by someone a bit dim.

Easy, informative non fiction read about decluttering. Even though the target audience is older folks wanting to get rid of things in a meaningful way toward the end of life, it has some good strategies and suggestions for anyone wanting to live more organized. There are also stories about the authors own life woven in that I found endearing.
Moderate: Death, Terminal illness, Death of parent, and Animal death

I'm not sure how good the advice is on a practical level but the book was amusing nonetheless.
It was very much like sitting down with an elderly relative who did not hold back on opinions or ideas. The idea of clearing out your excess things as a gift to those you leave behind when you pass is a good one and if you are looking for advice on how exactly to start there might be better choices out there, but I still recommend this book for the entertainment factor alone.

This book felt like warm advice from a loved one. It wasn’t overly practical, but had some cute anecdotes.

Like having a chat with a grandmother over cookies and hot tea. Some advice and wisdom. Some memories, stories, reminisces. and occasional moments where she shocks you with candid discussion of delicate topics. I found the television show more useful. but I did enjoy this little book.
Moderate: Grief, Animal death, Death, and Death of parent
Minor: Terminal illness
Some level of Gender essentialism
